Recently, a team of researchers took a look at overactive bladders and how to effectively treat those suffering from this condition.
They found that a new type of implantable sensor might be helpful for those that are impacted. The sensor is soft and highly stretchable, made from a hydrogel-based adhesive. The sensor can help those with overactive bladder to better monitor their conditions, researchers stated.
This research was conducted by a team from Pohang University of Science & Technology, with results of their trials being published in the medical journal, Biosensors & Bioelectronics. Not only do they hope to further the research into bladder control and health, but also help people live a higher quality life.
When someone has an overactive bladder, there is a frequent urge to urinate. Sometimes, that urge is real and the individual is able to urinate, but not always. It can be disruptive to daily life, especially if that person struggles with mobility. Additionally, it can also impact the quality of sleep that someone experiences. The urge to urinate can wake someone up, impacting their health in this way, too.
Medication can help to reduce this feeling, but it’s not always the best choice for someone. For some, medication doesn’t help. Electrical stimulation has also been shown to be helpful for some when it comes to this type of treatment, but this can be a difficult course of treatment for someone. This sensor can help to detect when the bladder is reacting in a way that it shouldn’t. They hope that it can also be used to prevent it.
The team believes that this type of sensor will be something that can be adapted to use with other organs in other ways in the near future.
When someone is facing a health issue, regardless of what it might be, finding the right team to help make life easier and to effectively deal with symptoms is important. The right team can make someone’s quality of life a whole better. When it comes to an overactive bladder, a caregiver that can help accommodate needs becomes a lot more important with the activities of daily life that relate to moving around and getting to the bathroom safely.
Choosing the right care service will make a difference. Not all caregivers and not all services are the same. Some have expertise in some areas, while others specialize in other areas. There’s nothing wrong with this–specialization allows caregivers to do their job a bit better.
This is why we supply our caregivers with ongoing training in their specific areas. For some, this means learning more about how to care for someone with dementia. For others, it means advanced training in assisting those with mobility issues. We do our best to pair our trained caregivers with the people that will benefit most from their services.
If you have questions about in-home care and how it might benefit your family, please get in touch. One of our caregivers would be happy to speak with you during a free consultation session and help get you pointed in the right direction.
