A recent study found that those who suffer from cardiovascular disease at an early age are more likely to struggle with memory loss and cognitive dysfunction as they age.
This study was conducted by researchers from the University of California in San Francisco and published in the medical journal, Neurology.
Those involved in the study were followed for about 30 years. They found that people who had a cardiovascular illness in middle age or before were more likely to score worse on a variety of cognitive tests.
At this time, researchers aren’t 100 percent sure why this is.
Hopefully, this research helps to launch more attention to how comorbidities interact with one another and impact overall health. There’s a lot of work to do when it comes to improving both hearth and brain health, especially in the senior community. But by focusing on prevention and addressing these things earlier on in life, a healthy lifestyle for future seniors can be improved upon. This is an important next step when it comes to improving the quality of life that our loved ones face.
Research like this is important, but it is likely that the payoff for these advances won’t be seen for several years. It doesn’t have an immediate impact on the health or quality of life for our elderly loved ones right now.
If you or a loved one is searching for senior care, it’s important to take into account the specific health needs as you are planning out what will work best for you and your family. There are many different types of senior care out there, with some of them being more helpful or better suited for what you’re looking for than others. Senior care comes in many different types and varieties for a reason–there are so many different needs and acuities of those needs present within the senior citizen population.
That’s why we try to make finding the right care a little bit easier for you. We have a trained team of professional caregivers that are specifically tasked with providing customized care in the home. We’ve found that this helps to meet a wider variety of needs than other types of senior care. But even with this, we know that in-home care isn’t for everyone. That’s why we want to have a conversation before we ever ask you to commit to anything.
We call this our free consultation service. The consultation is designed to get to know you, your needs, and your goals a little bit better. Then, we go over what in-home care can do to help meet those requisites. Maybe it’s exactly what you’ve been looking for. But maybe, something else will be better for you and your family.
We’re never going to push a service on you that won’t be what you need. Our consultation service is designed to help, not generate money.
If you’d like to have that conversation, please give us a call. One of our trained caregivers will be happy to talk more and help get you steered in the right direction, whatever that direction might be.
