New Cell Discovery Brings Hopes for Heart Health

Researchers at the University of Calgary recently announced that they have discovered a new type of cell, and that this cell has the ability to heal tissue found within the heart.

A new discovery might help doctors to make big strides against heart disease in the future.

The researchers found that a cell referred to as Gata6+ was able to heal heart tissue. This cell is part of a previously unidentified cell structure that surrounds the heart, and apparently has great potential when it comes to helping to improve healing to damaged cardiac tissue.

Their research was conducted on mice, and not humans. And although mice are a great lab animal because they so closely mirror the human body in many ways, there are differences. Whether or not these differences will cause issues for this new medical treatment in humans is yet to be seen. However, this cell structure is present around the human heart, and has caused a lot of excitement in the medical community as a result.

These findings were published in the journal, Immunity. Follow up research is needed before any sort of benefits are seen by the general public. Hopefully, success will build upon these preliminary findings. More research will likely be seen in the coming months.

Heart disease is the number one killer in the United States. It leads to things like heart attacks, stroke, and other life changing illnesses. Oftentimes, when someone that we love suffers from heart disease, more care is needed than what we are capable of giving them.

This is where professional senior care steps in. A trained caregiver has received the appropriate education to know how to give care in tough situations as well as what to do in emergency situations. A trained caregiver has often had a background check and receives ongoing education from her place of employment to ensure that she is knowledgeable out in the field. Many family members have great intentions, but just don’t have the training needed to ensure that their loved one is as safe and healthy as possible. You can be assured that a trained, professional caregiver will know how to do the right thing in almost any situation.

Feel free to contact us if you have questions about how senior care can help improve the life of a loved one suffering from heart disease or any other issue. At Paradise In-Home Care, our caregivers are trained to help those suffering from different disabilities and health concerns. We pride ourselves in our expert knowledge and personal, customized care. If you have questions about how our service can help improve the quality of life that your family experiences while care is being received, get in touch by phone or email. We can set up a free consultation and help you get started finding the perfect care for your elderly loved one.

Because while better heart treatment might still be years away from being developed, there are still things that can be done right now to make life better for your family. Contact us today to learn how care can help bridge this gap.
