Delivery has been a great option for years. Whether you’re running short on time or you just don’t feel like cooking dinner, having a pizza or another meal brought right to your home is an easy timesaver.
Amazon changed life for us all in the late 90s and early 2000s when they started delivering things besides food quickly to your door.
This has made simple out of the home tasks convenient for a lot of people. Want a new book to read? You don’t need to go to the bookstore or to the library, you can order one online. You can even purchase a downloadable digital book if you want to. Out of dish soap? Order it and have it delivered to you.
For seniors, this can be a gamechanger. Leaving the house for many older individuals is hard. I talked about that a little bit in a previous blog post and how COVID relates here. However, sometimes this difficulty can be related to mobility, too. For someone that can’t move around as easily and freely as they once did, or someone that isn’t able to drive a car with the same confidence that they used to, having delivery as an option can be a wonderful option to have.
For example, many seniors take some sort of prescription medication on a daily basis. Going to the pharmacy might be incredibly tough, but that isn’t something that needs to be a concern anymore. Some local pharmacies deliver medication to qualifying seniors. There are a handful of online pharmacies that will deliver medications around the country. There are more options when it comes to getting the essentials brought to you than ever before.
These things can all help make life for seniors easier and allow them to stay in their own homes for longer. It can help seniors maintain their independence for longer without relying on others.
There are a lot of other things that can help an elderly individual stay in their home for longer. That’s what in-home care hopes to establish. It isn’t just one support; it’s a whole system of support structures designed to help an elderly individual live a higher quality of life so that they can thrive while they stay where they want to as they age.
Is this something that would benefit your family? Are you unsure? Let’s talk more. In-home care is about supporting seniors and their entire families so that the senior years are less stressful and more enjoyable.
