Over the past couple years, alternatives to traditional senior care measures have begun to rise in popularity. One of these concepts that continues to become more widespread is called group home care.
Group home care revolves around the setting of the home. A small group of seniors live in a family residence, with a small group of care professionals helping with day to day tasks, meal preparation, medication management, and supervision. It’s very much like in-home care in this respect, but provided in a group setting so that companionship with other seniors is more easily accessible.
Traditional methods of care, like nursing homes and assisted living facilities, are not going anywhere. They still play a very important role in our communities. But as you know, what works for one person isn’t necessarily going to work for everyone. The nursing home might be great for one person, but not quite as helpful for another. These are the situations where a group home or in-home care might become a lot more beneficial to your family.
Group care homes tend to be much smaller in size than assisted living facilities. And rather than have the feel of a care facility, they are more akin to a family residence. Caregivers are still present, but the feel is a little bit different, when done properly. Residents are still able to get the day to day assistance that they require, but it is done in a more controlled and supervised setting than the home typically would be.
While group home care isn’t a service that is readily available in every community, the growth of alternative types of care is beginning to spread. If there’s one thing that the COVID pandemic has done for the care community, it is alerting a large number of people that care is important and that different people and families have different needs when it comes to this.
Knowing what’s available in your community will be helpful. It can alert you toward what will best address the needs of your family before that need becomes an emergency.
We’re always here to talk if you have questions about senior care and how it might serve your family. There are many more choices out there now than ever before–and that’s a very good thing. But it can also feel overwhelming at times. Having a professional on your side that’s truly interested in what’s best for your loved ones can make a big difference when it comes to finding the ideal resources to meet your needs.
That’s our goal. We’d love to help you get connected to the care services that will help you out the most. That might be Paradise In-Home Care, but it might not be. We realize that there are a wide variety of needs out there and we can’t meet them all. And that’s okay. If we’re not the right one for you, we’ll let you know and help get you guided in the right direction.
So please, feel free to reach out. One of our care professionals would love to talk more with you about your family’s needs, and help you to better meet them.
