Recently, a new study found that monitoring blood pressure from home can help seniors to live healthier lives. Simply bringing the technology into the home that can monitor this has a positive correlation to people taking action to improve their heart health.
The team claims that this has the potential to help people live longer and healthier lives, effectively reducing the risk of death because of heart issues.
It also comes with the benefit of being a lot more cost effective–both for the individuals monitoring their health and for the healthcare organizations that would typically be providing this service.
I’ve written about this concept quite a bit since the pandemic began winding down. We were even talking about it on the blog for years before the pandemic began. However, now that the world has gone through this experience together and a lot of these concepts have become known to the general public, more and more people are finding that this is the case.
The research team was based out of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. The results were published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
A healthy heart is crucial for overall well-being and longevity, playing a role in sustaining life and ensuring optimal bodily function. As the central organ of the circulatory system, the heart tirelessly pumps blood, delivering oxygen and essential nutrients to every cell in the body. Maintaining a healthy heart is paramount because it directly impacts our physical and mental health.
Regular cardiovascular exercise and a balanced diet are both key components in promoting heart health. Engaging in activities such as jogging, swimming, or cycling enhances heart and lung function, reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases like heart attacks and strokes. Meanwhile, consuming a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins helps control blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and body weight—crucial factors in maintaining a healthy heart.
A robust heart also boosts mental well-being. Improved blood flow and oxygen delivery to the brain enhance cognitive function, memory, and emotional stability. There are even some studies that correlate cardiovascular health to preventing things like Alzheimer’s disease. A healthy heart can help with better sleep patterns, reduced stress levels, and increased energy levels, all of which can contribute to improved mental clarity and emotional resilience.
A healthy heart is the cornerstone of a fulfilling life. By prioritizing cardiovascular exercise and adopting heart-friendly dietary habits, you can reduce the risk of heart related illness and bolster both mental and physical health. Embracing heart healthy practices is an investment in future well-being.
A care team that can help your family pursue healthy habits can also be beneficial. This is why we provide all of our caregivers with ongoing training and support. While we don’t provide home health care, we do ensure that the caregivers that we employ have the skills needed to impart healthy habits to the families that they work with.
We’d love to be part of your team! It all starts with a phone call. Please feel free to contact us with questions or to learn more about how in-home care might benefit your family.
