Lately, the concept of resiliency has become a hot topic in the world of trauma informed care. Resiliency is a term that covers a lot of things, but basically, it refers to an inner strength or a desire to keep pushing through something even though it’s hard.
Resiliency also refers to an individual’s ability to recover from a tough time. Someone who is resilient has been through a lot, but still gets up to do what they need to do day after day. They go through the tough times, but they push through them until they are completely done. This doesn’t need to be done in silence. A lot of people rely on counseling, therapy, and other forms of mental health treatments to get through this. Resilience doesn’t equal muscling through a tough time all alone.
This is important to remember for us, too. We don’t need to “tough it out.” We can be resilient and still get help. Sometimes, that’s what makes us even stronger and able to help others out moving forward. That might be exactly what we need to do in order to be even more effective in the future.
Resiliency will help not just the individuals involved in the care system, but the business itself. The people that provide senior care to others need to know that the pandemic is not how life is going to be for the rest of time. It has been a long ordeal, and some of the things that have changed because of the pandemic are likely to stay. But not everything. We need to persevere today if we are going to help others tomorrow. This is not easy, but nothing about the last year has been. We’ve all been through a lot, and odds are, we still have a ways to go before we’re through the forest completely. But there is an end up almost visible ahead.
And when things return to a new normal, the care business will be there. Yes, there will be changes to make it strong and more reliable. Hopefully, these changes will be geared toward helping even more people get the assistance that they need to get the most out of their senior years. It’s resiliency that is going to get us through the hard times so that we can all keep doing what we need to do to help those that we care about.
Senior care doesn’t need to look the same for everyone. It shouldn’t. After all, your parents are very different from others. Some of the needs that they have may be similar to those of other older adults that you know, but no two people are exactly the same. Their care shouldn’t be either. That’s why we have been such strong advocates of in-home care for so long. In-home care allows us to customize the care that’s given to an individual so that they receive exactly what they need in an immediate manner. It’s not perfect for everyone, but it is ideal for many.
We’d love to tell you more about what we do and how it might look in your particular situation. Give us a call to talk more.
