One of the easiest ways you can help reduce senior care costs is to integrate other methods of care into your loved one’s professional care. The technology market has been growing considerably as new senior tech items make their way out into the public marketplace.
However, some of the biggest developments in senior care technology are not actually hardware products, but software. There are a whole host of new apps that can be used from a handheld device that can make aging in-place much more realistic than ever before.
(Please note that we are not affiliated with any of these apps or the companies behind them in any way. These are just a couple apps that are currently making waves in the care industry that may or may not be of benefit to you and your family.)
When it comes to medical needs, MDLive seems to lead the way, especially for Apple users. This app is designed to keep people in touch with medical doctors and can even provide access to remote mental health doctors. It is a telemedicine app that consists of video chats with a licensed medical professional, along with direction on how to resolve medical issues. It is designed to help make medical care more easily accessible to those that have difficulty leaving the house and bring medical costs down at the same time.
For protection against financial abuse, Mint looks like a good choice. A lot of financial apps can be quite complicated, but that’s what separates Mint from the others. It compiles everything into one spot, making it very user friendly at the same time. It makes monitoring financial accounts a lot easier and includes alerts of suspicious activity. This can be a good way for a loved family member to ward of financial abuse or theft if your loved one is not able to monitor these things on their own.
Try as it might, technology will never replace the importance of human contact when it comes to caring for our elderly loved ones. Apps can make this easier, but they are not a permanent solution. Contact and love from other people is necessary for high quality care to take place. Maybe this is something that you’re already doing with an older loved one and acting as a family caregiver. Maybe it’s something that you’re thinking about doing in the coming months. Either way, if you’re looking for help or guidance when it comes to senior care, please let us know. One of our professional care specialists can sit down and talk about what your care options are and how professional in-home care might be of benefit to you. This is a free service we offer, so please don’t feel any pressure. We’re in this together, and we’d love to help you get pointed in the right direction.
This is a field that’s always evolving. It’s an area where there’s a lot of potential for growth, too. Be sure to keep checking to learn what’s new and helpful for your family’s particular situation.
