Preparing Your Family for a Senior Care Shortage

Preparing Your Family for a Senior Care Shortage

For years, senior care experts have predicted that there will be a large shortage in workers compared to the number of people that require assistance. This makes sense if you look at the demographic numbers. After World War Two ended, the Baby Boom generation marked the largest increase in babies born in the U.S. at that point in history. Those that were born in 1946 are now turning 75, and might already be in need of help with daily activities. As this population continues to age, the likelihood that a Baby Boomer will need care will continue to increase.

Keeping up with this is not an easy thing when it comes to the logistics of care services. Many have had to hire a lot of new staff. In other instances, we’ve seen brand new companies pop up. And this doesn’t just go for those that directly provide care. We’ve seen a lot of different types of companies grow during this time, ranging from care products, to technology geared toward seniors, and more. It’s been an exciting time to be in the business as it continues to grow and evolve.

The Baby Boom generation is continuing to grow in age and in their need for senior care services.

But that doesn’t change the fact that you might find yourself right in the middle of a care shortage yourself, unable to connect someone that you love with the right resources as they age.

One of the best questions you can ask when looking for care is regarding staffing. No service can predict this with one hundred percent certainty, but they can certainly look at their track record regarding tenure, availability, and past issues. If a company isn’t willing to discuss this, that could be a sign that they’ve experienced issues that might impact you.

Not all parts of the country and not all types of care are equally impacted by this. Hopefully, the worst is already past us thanks to the fact that the pandemic definitely sped up the timeline on how soon experts thought issues might surface when it came to the potential for a care shortage. But even if this is the case, it is still best to be proactive about it. Rather than hope that your family isn’t impacted by a potential care shortage, start your look for the right care service much earlier than you normally would. For some, that might mean that your search begins right now.

Regardless of what you’re looking for, we can help. We have a staff of experts with years of experience in this field. And we know how hard finding the right caregiver can be. In fact, a lot of us have been personally impacted by an older loved one that had difficulty finding the right resources.

We take great pride in what we do as a result of this. Whether you have a couple questions or you’d like to have a longer, in depth conversation, we’re here for you. Give us a call to schedule a consultation so that you can be prepared when it comes time to find ideal care for the people you love.
