As you may have heard, the recommended usage for aspirin has changed over recent months. This came about after a study confirmed that aspirin for preventative us amongst most parts of the population was not helpful at all and might actually be causing harm. Thanks to these observations, there has been a new slew of research into the topic and researchers from Florida Atlantic University have come up with a new set of guidelines for the use of aspirin as a preventative medication.
The main summary of this article was that doctors must make individual decisions regarding whether or not aspirin is right for an individual or not. This means that aspirin isn’t necessarily something that you should just take because you’ve heard that it’s good for you. Instead, you should see a doctor and have a full evaluation before this decision is made. Because of the potential harm that daily aspirin use can do, it’s important that this step be completed before you begin using aspirin for preventative reasons.
That’s not to say that there is no health benefit to aspirin. In fact, a lot of research confirms that it is a good idea to take it after a stroke or heart attack. However, it’s still important that you work with a doctor if you fit this description.
The findings were published in the journal, American Journal of Medicine. There is still more work that needs to be done here, and you need to remember that the advice found here is intended to be widely applied. There are specific instances where this advice is not correct.
That’s why it is important that you speak to a physician if you have questions about using aspirin. They will be able to give you much better and more customized advice than this blog can.
Preventative steps are important for improving the health of seniors. And that’s exactly what we are concerned with here at Paradise In-Home Care. In-home care and other types of senior care are designed to help keep seniors as healthy as possible for as long as possible. Now, this isn’t the only ingredient necessary for good senior health. In fact, we like to think of it as a big team project. Senior care is just one of the components necessary for someone to thrive during this time of their life. Another aspect–healthcare–is mentioned above. Family, socialization, connectedness, and more are all parts of maintaining health for longer periods of time, too.
