The medical community doesn’t know nearly as much as it needs to when it comes to kidney disease. Although a lot of advancements have been made, there’s still a lot more ground that needs to be covered. Much like other areas of medical research, the more we learn, the more we realize that there’s a ton more that’s unknown.
Kidney disease refers to a wide variety of illnesses and chronic diseases that concern the kidneys and their functioning. Really, kidney disease refers to a process in which the kidneys begin to stop working as they should, and complications arise throughout the body as a result.
Oftentimes, we associate kidney disease with dialysis. Dialysis is a process in which the job of the kidneys is replicated by a machine. Kidneys are responsible for cleaning the blood supply, and when they are no longer able to do that, someone will pass away from complications in a matter of a couple days. Dialysis does this by artificial means.
Let’s take a look at an example. Kidney disease is often treated with a type of medication known as an RAS inhibitor. In the past, some studies have indicated that this type of medication can actually have a negative impact on people with more advanced kidney disease. As a result of this, many doctors have stopped prescribing this medication once the disease gets to a certain point. However, new studies are now illustrating problems with doing this. Although this practice has been associated with reducing the need of dialysis, it has also been associated with an increased risk of death from cardiovascular disease.
Clearly, there is a lot of work needed still when it comes to kidney disease research.
Luckily, doctors are working on it. This new bit of research is a big step in the right direction. It’s identifying a gap in our understanding and pointing out an area where more research is needed. Although a lot of this takes place behind the scenes, it helps to make the job of doctors better. With more knowledge, doctors can make better decisions and help more people live better, healthier lives. We are building on conventional wisdom so that the people that are being treated can get the individualized assistance and treatment that they need.
Every person is a unique individual. Every individual has their own set of needs, wants, and goals that make them even more distinctly unique. This can include medical needs, but this is just a portion of what makes someone an individual. And all of these things need to be taken into account when looking for care in order for that care to be as effective as it could be.
In-home care is about treating an individual. It’s not about general care. Each person’s different, and taking into account things like medical conditions is a part of that. This is what in-home care is all about. It’s about working with someone and helping them out with their unique needs where they want to be helped.
