The Senior Care Staff Shortage Today

The Senior Care Staff Shortage Today

As you probably, there has been a senior care staff shortage that has been building up in the United States for the last several years. As the number of senior citizens grows, the number of people working in this industry has needed to grow, too. Some care companies have been recruiting at a good pace, hiring the quality staff that they need to continue to provide a high quality of care to the people that they serve. Other companies haven’t been so lucky, especially in more rural areas. There is still a huge need for senior care workers, and that need is only growing because of COVID-19 and its spread.

For a lot of people, the care shortage was still a few years off in the distance. There was still time to make the company structure changes necessary to adjust to the changing needs of their communities. The coronavirus pandemic put everything in fast forward. The needs that were not expected to manifest for a few more years are suddenly thrust into an area of immediate concern. More care workers are needed, and they are needed right now. It’s impossible to serve our communities across the country if things do not change. A lot of good things have happened in the past decade as far as improving this goes, but more change is still needed. Hopefully, the coronavirus will help to make these changes occur faster and with more lasting power.

Changes are necessary if the senior care industry is going to keep up with the need that our communities face.

One way that companies have been ahead of the game is by ensuring that only the best, most dedicated individuals are hired. This is one of the reasons why our hiring process is so strict. Not only do we conduct a thorough background check on each person we are considering before hiring them, we also supply them with thorough training so that they are well prepared for the ups and downs of what this job can entail. Not only does this help to ensure that the people that we bring on board want to be here and truly want to help others, it also gives them the tools that they need to handle some of the pitfalls that can come along with senior care. Before COVID-19, this was a profession that could be difficult, thankless, and trying. All of those things are even more magnified now.

Many have said in the past that senior care is a calling. It’s not a job that’s for everyone, but rather those who want to devote their lives to helping others. And in a way it is. Senior care is hard work, and only those who are really passionate about it tend to stay in the business for long. But that’s exactly the kind of person that you want working for your family, right?

Your family deserves the best. This is a difficult time for all of us, but that doesn’t mean that you should settle for second rate senior care. In fact, this is a time where you want better care than ever before. And that’s exactly what we here at Paradise In-Home Care intend to keep giving you.
