Assisted living facilities play an important role in the wider business of senior care. You have heard of nursing homes, and odds are if you are visiting our website, you are at least somewhat familiar with in-home care. Assisted living facilities are widely regarded as playing a role somewhere in between these two types of care, but that’s not fully accurate. In fact, assisted living facilities do a lot of the same things that the two previously mentioned types of care provide, at a price that is quite similar to in-home care, when compared side by side. However, assisted living does provide some things that neither of these other types of care can do. To fully understand the role that an assisted living facility plays, we need to take a little bit deeper of a look at what they are and what they do.
In many parts of the world, families are smaller and more spread out. Traditionally, senior care is often given by other family members. But as families change and as what family members are able to provide for others changes, other resources are needed. Assisted living fits in well here. Rather than an adult child or another family member providing daily assistance, a trained caregiver can step in and fill those gaps. Each family situation is different, and while some families can easily provide this service, for a wide variety of reasons, not all can.
Assisted living is not the perfect choice for everyone. It is one part of a much larger system, designed to help the elderly find exactly the right type of care to meet their needs and help them live the life that they want. This larger system is only ideal when people are aware of the choices that they have, have figured out how to pay for the cost of care, and are connected with the resources needed to keep things moving in the right direction. Unfortunately, not everyone in our communities has access to this information. Part of what we do here at Paradise In-Home Care is help to educate people about the resources we offer. That’s why we do not charge for our consultation service. It’s a tiny way that we can give back to our community. In-home care–much like assisted living–isn’t always the perfect choice for someone’s situation. When it’s not, our goal is to help point you toward the care and resources that will help you and your family in a way that best meets your unique situation.
If you’re interested in learning more about senior care and how your family would benefit from it, please don’t hesitate to give us a call or send an email. One of our professional caregivers would love to talk with you, over video chat if that is what’s most comfortable for you, and we can move forward from there. There are a lot of resources in your community designed to help make senior care easier. We can help you to connect with them more easily.
