Senior care is becoming more and more of a topic of discussion in the workplace. What role do businesses have in protecting employees that have a loved one that needs help? What should this role be moving forward? These are questions that need answers.
The senior population is growing faster than ever. The Baby Boomer generation is getting older, and many are now in need of senior care. As more and more age, the need for professional level senior care is only going to increase. In other words, the pinch that people are feeling between working and caring for an older family member is likely to get worse before it gets better. Finding a balance between work and helping family members at home is becoming a growing concern for millions of Americans.
This is one of the many flaws in how our society is structured that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the light. The good news is that these problems are being addressed on a far more widespread basis than ever before. The bad news is that there is a lot more work to go in order for these issues to be fully resolved. We’re just starting to scratch the surface.
Different solutions are being proposed on how to fix this. Some have proposed working elder care days into payroll somehow, much like we currently have sick time, vacation time, and family leave options. Protecting our ability to care for our older family members could be done this way, but it is more of a short term thing or a stop-gap measure, rather than a permanent solution.
This is where professional senior care can be helpful. But as you’re probably aware, this comes in a variety of options and not all of them are going to be as helpful as others.
In-home care is designed to ease this burden, but we do know that it’s not the ideal solution for everyone. It works really well for some families and not at all for others. Everyone is in a unique situation. We don’t want you to be stuck in a situation that isn’t helpful. We don’t want you to be looking for care that helps a little, but not as much as you really need. That’s why we’re happy to offer free consultations before you make a decision. If in-home care is right for you, we will let you know. And if it’s not, we will let you know that, too. We want your business, but even more than that, we want to help get your family pointed in the right direction.
Ultimately, some sort of solution for making access to senior care needs to be discovered by businesses. It only makes sense that we will get there–it makes sense for companies to treat employees well and this is going to be a huge concern over the next ten years. But we don’t know what the answers will look like just yet. Until then, you have people out there fighting for you and your family. We can be one of those resources for you. Just give us a call and let us know that you’d like to learn more about care, and we can help you get started.
