Here at Paradise In-Home Care, we firmly believe that in-home care is one of the most helpful, effective, and flexible types of senior care there is. Because of these things, we have long held that in-home care can help far more people than are currently receiving this type of assistance all across the globe.
But some populations have less access to in-home senior care than others. This is especially true for those that live in rural areas. Being far removed from a city situation provides certain disadvantages when it comes to access to services, with senior care being one of the big ones.
Luckily, this is starting to improve in many parts of the country. More states and counties are becoming aware of the need to assist seniors in remote parts when it comes to getting connected. It’s helping to improve lives.
This is also the case for those that live below the poverty line, another population that often has difficulty getting connected to high quality senior care services. As more and more states adopt Medicaid paid in-home care services, those at an economic disadvantage are growing in their access to quality services. There’s still more work that needs to be done when it comes to bringing better care to all seniors, but we’re headed in the right direction as a country.
With that said, it’s important to acknowledge that even though in-home care does a lot and can help a huge range of people with a wide variety of needs, it isn’t always ideal for everyone. For some, in-home care is not the right move. Senior care, just like anything else, should be evaluated on a case by case basis because what’s great for someone might not always be helpful for someone else. Each individual is unique and has unique needs because of that.
Some people may face various physical needs, such as transferring from one room to another, bathing, or meal preparation. Others have needs that can’t be met quite so easily. Mental and emotional needs are much harder to identify and compensate for. This is really one of the big benefits of in-home care. A caregiver has the opportunity to get to know someone on a much deeper level because of the one on one nature of the care that is being provided. They have the ability to get to know someone’s needs, provide companionship, and take better steps toward monitoring mental health cues. A skilled caregiver does more than provide a service; they have the ability to become a friend.
Our service area covers much of the San Francisco Bay Area, which includes no rural areas. However, that doesn’t mean that this population doesn’t deserve the best senior care possible. If you’re looking for senior care, we’d love to talk more. Even if your older loved one lives outside of our area, we’d love to talk about your family’s unique situation, how care might help, and then get you pointed in the right direction. Our free consultation service is designed especially for this purpose.
