You were probably already aware of this, but we are strong proponents of in-home care. It’s even in our company name! But we’re also aware that there are other types of care out there. We know that different people have different needs when it comes to care, and while in-home care is a valuable and underused type of senior care, it’s not the ideal solution for everyone.
However, research shows that aging in place is incredibly helpful when it comes to senior health, both physical and mental. Aging in place is the concept of not moving around as higher levels of care are needed, such as what would happen when you transition from your home to your kid’s house, to the assisted living facility, to the nursing home. Aging in place allows a senior to stay where they are and have care come to them. Not only does this help with health, it has also been shown to help improve happiness and slow the spread of dementia.
Aging in place isn’t always possible. That’s why it’s so exciting that new companies are coming in and changing how care is applied to help more people adapt to unique situations and receive this incredibly beneficial type of care. Some companies are helping to expand senior communities, others are enabling families to be better at helping their older loved ones. There is a lot of room for innovation when it comes to care, and luckily we aren’t the only ones fighting this battle to help ensure that every older adult is safe and receiving the care that they deserve.
Each family and each individual is unique. Each situation will be a little bit different and the right kind of care for your family might look different than the right kind of care that another family relies on. This is normal.
