The COVID-19 pandemic exposed some serious shortcomings in the care system of our country. Between staffing shortages, crowded care homes, and a lack of adequate training, we learned that there is a lot more need in the care industry than what a lot of people had originally thought.
And while it is a clear tragedy that people were put in that situation, we now have the luxury of retrospect. We can see what went wrong within many care homes during the early days of the pandemic and make corrections.
Some of the proposed changes that more and more care services are adopting include: in-home services expansion, more transparency in ownership and management, more comprehensive workforce development, higher wages, and more financial accountability. These changes aren’t universal, but when implemented correctly, they have already proven to be a good start in helping seniors receive better care as they age.
Widespread change begins with local changes. That’s why what we do here at Paradise In-Home Care is so important. We’ve long believed that home based care is a vital part of the bigger industry. Hopefully, other services keep making changes and adapt to the needs of their communities.
At the end of the day, senior care is a very personal thing. Each person in care is an individual with a unique history and story behind them. They have different health and wellness needs, and each family situation is a bit different. Although there are similarities when it comes to large groups of individuals that seek out senior care, there are also very important differences that must be taken into account. And when the person receiving care is someone that you care about, you want to make sure that they are really getting the best help possible for your family’s unique set of circumstances.
Care isn’t one size fits all. The nursing home model is great for some people, but it’s not the right fit for everyone. In-home care can be a great way to get the assistance that someone needs without having to relocate, but for many people with advanced medical needs, in-home care isn’t always the best choice. Each situation is a little bit different.
That’s why we take such great pride in what we do and how we do it here at Paradise In-Home Care. We know that each person faces a unique set of challenges when it comes to their senior years. We know that you and your family need and deserve a senior care service that will help you to determine what the best course of action for your situation might be, and then helps get you connected to it. If that’s in-home care and we can meet your family’s needs, we are honored to do so. But if in-home care isn’t quite right for your family, we’re happy to help you get connected to what will be best.
Care can be quite omplex and overwhelming, but when you have just the right team on your side, it can be a lot easier to make happen. We’d love to be a part of your team.
