A new study once again reaffirms that exercise is good for the brain and may even help to prevent cognitive decline diseases like Alzheimer’s disease from occurring. This new study, which was conducted by the Yonsei University College of Medicine, found evidence that people with mild cognitive impairment who exercise more than once per week are a lot less likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease.
This is really good news, especially because those that suffer from mild cognitive impairment are about ten times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease than the average person is. Research found that just two ten minute sessions of exercise on different days within the span of a week had a statistically significant impact on reducing the likelihood of the cognitive decline. They also found that there was a correlation between more exercise and decreased risk. People that exercised three to five times per week were less likely to develop Alzheimer’s than those that exercised less often.
The results of this study were published in the journal Alzheimer’s Research and Therapy. Research was conducted by looking at over 249,000 electronic medical records, sifting through the data and compiling it. The hope is that by illuminating just how powerful the benefits of exercise are, more people will do it. Even those that are already starting to show health issues can prevent future problems by exercising.

But, when done right, there really is something out there for everyone. There’s also a really good chance that you’re going to find something that you enjoy if you look at all of your options. Even if you are older or have physical disabilities, there is something out there for you.
